The soul that does not transform dies. We receive a new spirit from the Lord that leads us to transform. Obedience to that new spirit is transformation. That new spirit gives us the new nature, the new righteous nature. It gives us God’s righteousness because it is of His Spirit that we receive. It makes us righteous or gives us the title of righteous. Now when we obey that spirit it is considered righteousness. Remember we do not only believe but we also do because we believe. Righteousness works the same. We believe unto righteousness (title) and then we do righteousness (acts in obedience to Spirit of God).

God says that all souls belong to Him.

Ezekiel 18

4             ” Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.

God says by the prophet that if a soul sins that soul will die. That does not speak of just one sin but rather a lifestyle of sin. A lifestyle of unrighteousness, a lifestyle of disobedience to the Spirit of God. This then brings us to another dangerous doctrine that if not correctly understood could ruin many believers. The doctrine says that, ”we are made righteous by Jesus because we believe and that is it, nothing else needed”. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. You see God explains it to us clearly by the prophet:

Ezekiel 18

20           The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

21           “But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

22           None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live.

23           Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord GOD, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?

24           “But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.

25           “Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair?

26           When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies in it, it is because of the iniquity which he has done that he dies.

27           Again, when a wicked man turns away from the wickedness which he committed, and does what is lawful and right, he preserves himself alive.

28           Because he considers and turns away from all the transgressions which he committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

29           Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, is it not My ways which are fair, and your ways which are not fair?

30           “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord GOD. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin.

31           Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel?

32           For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn and live!”

God makes it very clear that even if a man is righteous when he does unrighteousness his soul will die. That man even though righteous, does not obey the correct spirit and does iniquity, if he continues in his unrighteousness he will die. In fact the Lord implores him to get for himself a new spirit so that he does not continue in unrighteousness and die. The Lord has no pleasure in seeing the unrighteous die, but that does not mean He does not allow them to die!! Don’t be fooled by lazy doctrine and irresponsible belief, that once you believe and receive the title of righteousness, you can now continue with your own lifestyle. That could cost you your very soul. It is clear. God says it and confirms it many times in this passage of scripture. The soul that sins will die!

Next time we will continue on the topic.

Till then, God bless.
